Guru said, “There is only one correct way of creating the right profile. And that correct way is to begin by asking the question, ‘How would a recruiter search for someone like me on the jobsite.’”
The recruiter panel is the other side of jobsites that candidates searching for jobs on these sites do not get to see. This side of a jobsite is seen only by recruiters who are searching for candidates to fill a particular vacancy. In order to get access to these recruiter panels, recruiters pay the jobsites. In the case of popular jobsites, this charge can be quite steep.
On the recruiter panel, a recruiter can see your profile in the list of search results thrown by the panel. A recruiter types in certain requirements (like salary range, job profile etc.) on the recruiter panel. On the basis of these requirements typed by the recruiter, the recruiter panel churns out a list of profiles who meet the requirements typed by the recruiter. Often these lists contain hundreds and thousands of profiles. Recruiters then further narrow down their requirements to shorten the list to just a few profiles.
It is important as a candidate that your profile is such that it continues to come up in the lists as a recruiter narrows down her requirements on the recruiter panel, for a job vacancy for which you are completely eligible. This can happen only if your profile contains the right keywords and all the other relevant information that the recruiter is looking for in the profile of a candidate suitable for the vacancy.
