Guru said, “90% of success is about showing up.”
In the case of job-hunting, 90% of success is really about showing up on job-sites. Many candidates desire good jobs without even caring to have their profile on job-sites.
These days, actually, showing up on job-sites is not enough. One also needs to have a presence on professional networking sites like LinkedIn. LinkedIn is one of the most popular professional networking sites, in India and globally. According to one survey LinkedIn is the most popular site in India, among job-hunters.
Job-sites have made it much easier the task of showing up. You need to register on the job-site, create your profile and upload your resume. But then showing up just doesn’t stop here. You should also regularly update your profile and resume so that recruiters can see your profile when they look for a job-vacancy that matches your profile. Recruiters while searching prefer to see profiles of candidates who have been recently active on the job-site.
So if you have not visited the job-site on which you are for the last six months then your chances of showing up in a recruiter search has gone down drastically. A recruiter may search for profiles, “which are active in the last one month,” and your profile will not be shown in that search.
Keep visiting the job-sites regularly. And keep showing up.
